One Trick Pony: Douglas Tinker, Defender
“Douglas Tinker died on November 10, 2008….”
Someone “tweeted” the link to Douglas’s obituary. I tried reading it out loud to my wife and actually made it almost three-quarters of the way through before breaking down.
My wife paid me a great compliment. And I hope I truly find a way to live up to it. She said, “He sounds like you.”
Rest in peace, Douglas. Although I never knew you, I miss you. I really miss you.

When I was a kid, my father was wrongly accused of a crime. We were poor and could not pay him all the money up front so Mr. Tinker allowed my father to pay him in small payments. For years after, Mr. Tinker would stop by our house and give us Christmas presents. Then, my father passed away and there was still a balance. Mr. Tinker said we did not owe anything else. Truly a kind man who really cared about people.
