Simply by noting what I was told about the "victim's" father, I was worried I already gave too much detail. My respect for the law -- particularly juvenile-oriented law -- has essentially gone down the proverbial shi...toilet. From what I can see, everyone makes a pretense of looking out for the best interests of the children, all the while knowing that what we are doing, whether because of funding issues or the lack of any knowledge about child psychology and youthful offenders, is more harmful than if we simply stopped arresting them at all. (And, just to be clear, I don't think that is a solution, either.) I just clicked the Three Felonies link I used in the post and it came up for me, as it did yesterday when I wrote the post. Not sure why it's down for you. Because it was a juvenile case and because the juveniles were quite young, I did not want to get too specific.
